SHOCKING NEWS: Rising senior Trini De La Garza announced yesterday his commitment to play college baseball at perennial college baseball powerhouse Wichita State University. The Shockers have made the College World Series seven times and won a national title in 1989. The Shockers also have the eighth highest win percentage among NCAA Division 1 schools. The Shockers and De La Garza both share a 2020 season cut short by COVID-19. In his last game of the 2020 season, De La Garza was perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in leading the Knights to a 6-1 victory over College Station to bring Mac's non-district record to 7-3-1. The Shockers likewise had gotten off to a torrid 13-2 start, including a perfect 10-0 at home. They were ranked No. 30 in the nation when COVID-19 cut the college baseball season short.
