Knights Dismantle College Station's Ace with 14 Hits in 6-1 Victory

KNIGHTS CAPTURE COUGARS. After the East View win, the varsity baseball Knights took on highly anticipated, highly acclaimed opponent, College Station. In the bottom of the third inning, College Station tied the game at 1 off a solo homer. Heading into the fourth inning, it was all business for the Knights as they pulled away from College Station for good with three runs in the fourth. Marc Juarez singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, and Fabian Castillo singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. The last nail in College Station’s coffin came in the top of the seventh inning when with the score 4-1 Knights Connor Boggs homered on a line drive to left field driving in Trinidad de la Garza. Cole Davis began the day on the mound but was relieved by Fabian Castillo who pitched the Knights to victory, only surrendering one run on two hits over five innings and striking out two. The Knights bested the Cougars in hits also with 12 to College Station’s six. De la Garza and Easton Salinas led the Knight in hits, De la Garza went 4-4 at the plate with four doubles and Boggs and Juarez both had two RBI’s. In the team huddle after the game head coach Brandon Grant mentioned how well the Knights can play and that if they keep working and playing at this level it’s going to be a great season. “It showed our capability of playing at a very high level and competing,” De la Garza said. "Very impressed with Fabian stepping up showing some dog in him and pulling us through with the ability to command and lead our team to a win. One of the best pitching performances I’ve ever seen.” Due to the AISD school cancellation the Knights games against Elgin and Vista Ridge have been cancelled. The fate of the district games against LBJ on Monday and Tuesday are unknown as of this moment.
